Hold a meaningful observer role such as timekeeper, pattern spotter, or materials guide.

Step away or decline without having to disclose a reason in front of the group.

- Can the instructions be shown as well as spoken?
- Is there a lower-sensory place or quieter role?
- Can a participant work seated or with a partner?
- Is enough transition time available?
- Does the alternate role still contribute meaningfully?
- Can someone pass without public explanation?

The mosaic can hold unnamed cell selections on the device. It is not a roster, profile, vote, score, behavior chart, attendance record, or assessment. Facilitators must not use cell patterns to encode a person’s identity.
